The Honduran curlyhair tarantula (Tliltocatl albopilosus, formerly Brachypelma albopilosum) is a terrestrial, burrowing New World tarantula recognized by its dark body and long, curled setae. This listing is for an individual measuring approximately 3 inches; confirm the current size and sex before purchase.
Housing and care
Provide a secure, well-ventilated terrestrial enclosure with more floor space than climbing height, deep compactable substrate, a ground-level hide and a shallow water dish. Feed appropriately sized live invertebrates and remove uneaten prey. Avoid feeding during premoult and wait until the new exoskeleton has hardened after a moult.
Routine handling is not recommended. Falls can cause serious injury, and urticating hairs may irritate skin, eyes and airways. Keep the enclosure away from children and other animals, and have the complete setup ready before pickup.
