Larger than standard mealworms, they provide an excellent source of protein and fat for insectivorous and omnivorous animals while encouraging natural hunting and feeding behaviors. Giant mealworms are an excellent choice for bearded dragons, leopard geckos, tegus, monitors, skinks, turtles, hedgehogs, poultry, and many other species capable of consuming larger prey. For optimal nutrition, gut-load mealworms with a quality diet for 24–48 hours before feeding and dust with calcium or vitamin supplements when appropriate for your animal. Store giant mealworms in a well-ventilated container with wheat bran or similar bedding at 8–15°C to slow development and maximize shelf life.
