Zebra – Armadillidium maculatum – (12+ Count)

Zebra Isopods (Armadillidium maculatum) are a popular species used in bioactive reptile and amphibian enclosures. Their distinctive black and white striped pattern makes them one of the most recognizable and visually appealing isopods available.

This species is commonly used as part of a bioactive clean up crew. They help break down organic waste within the enclosure, including shed skin, leftover food, and decaying plant material. This natural process helps support a healthier and more balanced terrarium environment.

Armadillidium maculatum are known for their ability to roll into a ball when disturbed, a natural defensive behavior typical of many Armadillidium species. They prefer moderate humidity levels and access to leaf litter and hiding spaces within the enclosure.

Each culture contains 12 or more mixed size isopods, including juveniles and subadults, which helps establish a breeding colony when kept under proper conditions.

At Caliber Exotic Supply, we focus on healthy starter cultures designed to support thriving bioactive terrariums and naturalistic reptile enclosures.

Providing leaf litter, moisture gradients, and appropriate substrate will help support long term colony growth.
