Discoid Roach
LV-DISCOID

Discoid roaches (Blaberus discoidalis) are a popular feeder insect for reptiles, amphibians, and other insect-eating animals. They are valued for their high protein content, soft body structure, and active movement, which helps stimulate natural feeding responses in many reptiles.

Discoid roaches are commonly fed to reptiles such as bearded dragons, leopard geckos, tegus, monitors, skinks, and many other insectivorous species. Their balanced nutritional profile and easy digestibility make them an excellent feeder insect for both juvenile and adult reptiles.

Unlike some feeder insects, discoid roaches cannot climb smooth surfaces or fly, which makes them easier to manage during feeding. Their softer exoskeleton compared to some insects also makes them easier for many reptiles to digest.

Feeder roaches can be gut loaded prior to feeding to improve their nutritional value. Dusting with calcium or vitamin supplements may also be recommended depending on the dietary needs of the reptile being fed.

At Caliber Exotic Supply, feeder insects are selected for health, activity, and consistent sizing to help ensure dependable feeding responses.

Discoid roaches should be kept in a ventilated container at warm room temperatures. Providing egg cartons or similar structure helps increase surface area and reduces stress while keeping the insects healthy and active.
