Superworms
LV-SUPERWORM

Superworms (Zophobas morio) are a large feeder insect commonly used for many reptiles, amphibians, birds, and small mammals. Their active movement helps trigger a strong feeding response, making them a reliable feeder for many insectivorous species.

Superworms provide a good source of protein and energy and are often offered to medium and large insect-eating reptiles. Because of their thicker exoskeleton and larger size, they are generally best suited for animals capable of handling larger feeder insects.

Common reptiles that readily accept superworms include bearded dragons, leopard geckos, tegus, monitors, skinks, and many other insectivorous reptiles.

Superworms should be offered as part of a varied diet and can be gut loaded prior to feeding to improve their nutritional value. Because superworms are naturally low in calcium, dusting with a calcium supplement is recommended when appropriate for your reptile’s dietary needs.

At Caliber Exotic Supply, feeder insects are selected for activity, quality, and consistency to help ensure dependable feeding responses.

Storage and Care

Superworms should be stored at room temperature, ideally between 21–24°C (70–75°F). They should not be refrigerated for long-term storage.

Keep superworms in a ventilated container with bran, oats, or similar bedding. Small pieces of vegetables such as carrot or potato can be provided for moisture and gut loading.
