The Cuban Bronze tarantula, Phormictopus auratus, is a Cuban species known in the hobby for its attractive bronze to golden tones and strong feeding response. It is generally kept in a terrestrial style enclosure with secure ventilation, appropriate substrate depth, access to fresh water, and room to retreat. Husbandry guidance commonly places this species in a warm range around 20–29°C with moderate moisture, often with humidity guidance centered around roughly 65–75%, while allowing the enclosure to avoid becoming waterlogged. As with many tarantulas, careful, low-stress maintenance is preferred and routine handling is not recommended. Live feeder insects are typically used for ongoing feeding, and keepers should always monitor enclosure conditions closely and adjust based on the animal’s behavior and molt cycle.
